Karolinska Institutet is one of Europe’s largest medical universities. It is also Sweden´s largest centre for medical training and research. Our mission is to improve the health of mankind through research and education. Through research, education and information, Karolinska Institutet contributes to improving human health. Each year, the Nobel Assembly at Karolinska Institutet awards the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. The department of Biosciences and Nutrition performs research and education in areas of medical science and offers an international working environment. It consists of approximately 400 scientists, students, administrative and technical personnel from many different countries. Furthermore, most research projects are conducted in the context of national and international networks.
