The Mediterranean Diet Foundation (FDM) is a non-profit organisation with a strictly scientific and cultural agenda, founded in 1996 by the Association for the development of the Mediterranean Diet to preserve the lifestyle that the Mediterranean countries have enjoyed for thousands of years. Scientists have shown that this lifestyle is beneficial for people’s health and general well-being. In addition, the Foundation contributes to the maintenance of a sustainable agriculture and preserving the environment.
The Foundation Mediterranean Diet is formed by a board of trustees that includes Public Administration organisations as well as associations and companies. It has an international scientific committee presided over by Lluís Serra Majem, president of the Foundation
