Spanish Agency of Food Security and Nutrition (AECOSAN)
The Spanish Agency of Food Security and Nutrition (AECOSAN) is an Independent Organism assigned to the Ministry of Health and Consumption, which mission is to guarantee the highest degree of security and to promote the health of the citizens, working for:
- To reduce the risks of the diseases transmitted or conveyed by foods;
- To guarantee the efficiency of the food control systems;
- To promote the consumption of healthy food, favoring its accessibility and the information on such;
- To plan, to coordinate and to develop strategies and actions that foment the information, education and promotion of the health in the area of the nutrition and, especially, in the prevention of obesity.
The AESAN’s goal is that the citizens have full confidence in the food they consume and have adapted information so that they have the capacity to choose.
